ONE of Ludlow’s oldest shops is 100 years old.
Poyners, Broad Street, has been part of Ludlow town centre for as long as anyone can remember.
It has been clothing women, babies and children since the end of World War One.
At a time when so many shops are blaming technology and online shopping for difficulties, Poyners does not even have a telephone and is an example of the benefits of old-fashioned service.
Margaret Edwards and Jean Parker have been working in the shop for as long as many people can remember.
They carry out an annual shoebox collection for charity at Christmas and raise money so that the names of Ludlow’s war dead can be put around the base of the town’s war memorial.
