YELLOW warnings for winds have been issued by the Met Office as Storm Bronagh has been causing havoc.

Jon Fraser, Worcestershire County Council Highways, said: "We've dealt with situations in over 60 locations so far during this period of stormy weather, where fallen trees have caused travel disruption.

"We're working as quickly as we can to respond to each issue that is reported to us.

"The strong winds and heavy rain are set to continue into the weekend with a further storm looking likely to hit the county in the coming hours. We'd like to remind residents to stay safe, take caution when travelling and report any incidents of damage to us, and we will look into it as soon as we possibly can."

The strong winds are expected to affect us until this morning, with another very windy spell beginning on Sunday, and more yellow warnings for Sunday and Monday.

The Met office has warned that the winds could cause some damage to buildings such as tiles falling from roofs and fallen trees. Power cuts could also be caused.

A tree fell on Wednesday night in Martley, a large part of the trunk was blocking Church Lane and other branches became tangled up around a telephone pole. The road was closed from both directions.

Pitmaston park was closed yesterday morning due to falling trees.

A Worcestershire County Council spokesperson said: "We can confirm that Pitmaston Park was shut on safety grounds yesterday morning to allow a health and safety check to take place.

We'd received reports of fallen tree branches near a school entrance, given the recent high winds. The park was re-opened following the check."
