A SUSPECTED car thief might have broken his legs after falling 15ft when trying to escape from police in Quinton this morning.
The driver was said to have lost control of the stolen car before crashing into a lamppost in Upper Meadow Road in the early hours of Friday (August 17).
After trying to flee from police, the man climbed a 5ft fence, but did not realise there would be a 15ft drop on the other side.
Chief Inspector Jack Hadley, of West Midlands Police, shared photos of the crash on Twitter and wrote: “Another pursuit of a suspected stolen car in Quinton.
“The driver lost control and hit a lamppost. He then made off over gardens & jumped a 5ft fence.
“Sadly he didn't know it was a 15ft drop on the other side. One detained....”
The Ch Insp added: “Thought he had fractured his femur...off to hospital in lots of pain!”
