VOLUNTEERS are needed at Worcestershire Museums to support staff at their sites.

The role involves surveying visitors during opening hours of the museum, at specified periods between July 2018 – March 2019.

Every individual will follow a set questionnaire for the face-to-face visitor research. Training and support will be provided by museum staff with experience in customer service, audience research and the museums.

A spokesman for Museums Worcestershire said: “We are always striving to offer the best possible visitor experience. As part of this we wish to begin a programme of research across our museums to help us learn more about our visitors and their experience of our sites.”

The benefits of the position include: a unique customer experience in a creative environment, discount in the museums shop, annual social events and an opportunity to help shape Museums Worcestershire’s visitor offer.

The museums locations include: Worcester City Art Gallery and Museum, The Commandery and Worcestershire County Museum.

The volunteering position can be at any or all the Museums Worcestershire sites. However, applicants should specify their preference.

There are no set hours or days other than within the confines of opening hours at the museums. It is a flexible role as research times will vary and include weekdays and weekends.

The collections and exhibitions at the sites are varied, covering centuries of the county's history right up to the present day. Thousands of objects, including the historic buildings themselves, are brought to life through innovative exhibitions and events throughout the year.
