THE Redditch Labour Party School Uniform Bank is taking place this Saturday.

Organised by councillor Joe Baker, it is on Saturday, August 18, between 9am and noon at the Ecumenical Centre Redditch.

Cllr Baker said that this year's event has been the busiest ever with more and more people requesting help.

"Redditch is a truly remarkable town when it comes to helping others," he said.

"We have had great support from Nikki the manager at the Ecumenical Centre, Inspire Community Group Winyates, Green Willow Healing Group, Omega Therapies, and the many volunteers that donate and collect for us.

"It was also amazing that Diamond Buses operational manager Chris Bridges organised the purchase of shoes from Shoe Fare where staff Margerette and Deborah gave their store discount to help out."

He added: "More and more we are hearing our residents are struggling financially as we go door to door during our Labour Listens campaign. The School Uniform Bank is here to help families who are finding times hard as this Government fails to address the needs of everyone in our society, and we hope again to help this year as we have done for the last few years."

Anyone in need of uniforms or would like to donate shoes or clothes is being urged to pop along.
