A TRIBUTE marking the centenary of the end of the First World War will be unveiled in Woodsetton on Sunday.

The steel wreath, which is set on stone, has been added to the war memorial on the corner of Sedgley Road and Parkes Hall Road.

It was designed by Black Country artist Edward Cartwright and the stone was supplied by Co-operative Memorials.

Woodsetton councillor Keiran Casey said he and his fellow ward representative Adam Aston launched the project to "act as a permanent tribute to those who have given their lives for our freedom".

The pair worked with the Woodsetton Charitable Trust to help raise the £1,200 needed for the wreath, which will be unveiled by the Lord Lieutenant of the West Midlands, John Crabtree and Councillor Alan Taylor, the Mayor of Dudley, at 9.30am.

The memorial will also be rededicated at the event.
