KNITTING may be considered as an old fashioned skill and something that is the preserve of elderly women with time on their hands.

But this is anything but the full story as a group of people who meet regularly at Church Stretton Library will be able to testify.

The ‘sit and knit’ group comes together on a Saturday morning and gives people the chance to practice and improve a practical skill that has a very tangible and money saving end product.

However, that is not be only story because it is a skill that keeps the fingers nimble and the mind active.

Knitting can also be highly therapeutic and relaxing and has been used to help counter stress.

It can also be a very good way of being able to meet with new friends and socialise in a relaxing environment.
