A WOMAN has been fined and banned from the road after being caught driving almost three times over the drink-drive limit.

Carolyn Marshall, of Worcester Road, Droitwich, pleaded guilty at Worcester Magistrates Court on Thursday, November 23.

On Sunday, September 17 Marshall was spotted drinking from a wine bottle whilst in her car on The Saltway, Droitwich.

Officers tracked her car using the Police National Computer (PNC) and visited the address of the registered keeper, which was the defendant.

She was arrested and taken to Worcester Police Station in Castle Street.

She had consumed so much alcohol that she had 97 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

A letter with details of Marshall's mitigating factors was given to magistrates.

Speaking to the court, Marshall said: "I am just really sorry."

She was disqualified from driving for 3.5 years and handed a 12-month community order with 12 Rehabilitation Activity Requirement (RAR) days.

She was also fined £423, court costs of £135 and a victim surcharge of £85.
