THE first light festival in Evesham will take place tomorrow (Saturday).

Evesham Light Festival takes place at 4.30pm on Saturday November 25 from Evesham Rowing Club through Abbey Park and up to Market Place for the lights switch on.

During the festival, paper lanterns will be carried along the route, with workshops helping people prepare for the occasion.

Workshops to help people build their lantern will take place at Crafters Companion, The Valley on Wednesday November 1, November 8 and November 15 from 3.30pm until 6pm.

The cost of the workshops is £5 payable on the day to cover materials including a torch.

Preparations for the Christmas lights switch on begin at Charter Market in the High Street and Bridge Street with Christmas gifts and entertainment in the Market Place.

Celebrations begin with Christmas carols, followed throughout the day with live music. At 3pm Father Christmas and his reindeer will parade up Bridge Street into Market Place where they will spend the afternoon.

At the countdown to the Christmas lights switch-on begins followed by a fireworks extravaganza and a Rock 'n' Rollin' Christmas sing-a-long.
