AN artisan salad grower based in North Herefordshire is in talks with one of the world's best-known department stores.

Richard and Mandy Sidgwick, the owners of Lane Cottage Produce – which produces leaves grown without artificial fertilisers and pesticides – recently attended the finalists' party of the Young British Foodies Awards 2017, having received a nomination.

Although they did not win their category, they had an opportunity to showcase their salad and mix with a large number of top chefs, food bloggers and buyers.

They also made new contacts and said they are currently in talks with Harrods – the primary sponsor of the YBFs – about stocking their salad.

The YBF’s awards showcase the new upcoming talent in the food world ranging from chefs, to artisan producers to food writers. Over the years it has become the premier event for new talent – the foodie equivalent of The Turner Prize.

Richard and Mandy said: "We would like to thank whoever nominated us, family, neighbours and customers for their support and our fantastic workforce whose hard work and attention to detail ensure the salad is always top-notch."

Lane Cottage Salad can be found in many restaurants and shops in Herefordshire and Shropshire.
