VINTAGE vehicles, a burglary scene briefing and an arrest and custody tour will be amongst the highlights at a police open day.

A police dog, fire services, finger printing and identification procedures will also ensure that visitors have a fun day at Worcester Police Station in Castle Street.

The open day is to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the joining of Worcestershire Constabulary, Herefordshire Constabulary, Shropshire Constabulary and Worcester City Police, which together provide West Mercia Police.

The open day takes place on Sunday August 27 from 11am until 3pm.

The police have also announced a painting competition for the day which will see artwork from residents displayed for all to see at the police station.

The theme of the competition is 'The Police Past and Present: From our Cars to our Stations'.

The competition is made up of three categories for four to six years, seven to 11 years and 12 to 16 years.

Three winners will receive a book token and have their artwork put up at their local police station.

To enter, send entries to Worcester Police Station, for the attention of PCSO Kylee Berry by Friday August 18.
