A CRADLEY church is getting set to host a service with a difference as it invites all creatures great and small to a special pet blessing.

St Peter’s Church is inviting pets and their owners to its ‘Pet and Animal Blessing Service’, which will take place from 3pm on Saturday, July 29.

Rev Katryn Leclézio held the first pet blessing service in 2012 after regularly taking her dog Tilly into schools and nursing homes as part of the Pets as Therapy scheme, which uses animals to help the young and old to overcome their fears.

She said: “I have seen pets transform people’s lives. Many of us are so thankful for the love and loyalty of our pets and for the fascination they provide.

“This service is an opportunity to give thanks to God for all God’s creatures.”

Refreshments will also be served at the service which will be conducted outside if the weather is fine.
