WHEN customers of the TSB in Malvern go to do their banking, they may well leave with a book.

The branch in Church Street is supporting its charity partner, the Worcestershire Association of Carers, by selling second-hand books to raise vital funds for adult unpaid carers.

Branch manager Lucy Bailey said: “Our branch book sale is proving to be a real hit with our customers.

“They are loving the opportunity to bank, browse and buy. It’s clearly become a talking point and there’s a lot of chatter and concerns for carers. People are quite shocked to find that there are some 9,309 carer in our Malvern Hills district alone.”

Donations of books are coming from people all over the county, including TSB customers and carers. The sale is set to end in September and the branch is pulling out all the stops to raise £200 through its book sale.

Carole Cumino of the charity said: “We are thrilled and really grateful that the TSB is doing this. This is the charity’s 20th birthday and all monies raised will go towards our birthday appeal.”
