AN urgent appeal has gone out for people to come forward with information after a seriously ill dog was dumped from a van in Redditch and left to die.

The female Shar Pei was rushed to a vet after a member of the public contacted The RSPCA after seeing her dumped from a white van in Edgeworth Close, Redditch.

Despite best efforts the dog had to be put down.

The distressing incident happened at around midnight on May 18.

RSPCA inspector Mark Lewis said: “This poor dog was heartlessly abandoned in the most callous way in her hour of need.

“She was shaking, barely able to walk, and had a very swollen abdomen and overgrown claws. It’s heartbreaking to think such a poorly dog was simply dumped and left to die.

“Sadly the vet confirmed she had chronic heart failure and put her to sleep to stop her suffering further."

He added: “The person who contacted us saw the dog being dumped out of the back of a white van but unfortunately they were unable to catch the registration number and didn’t see the person who dumped her.

“We wish we had more information to go on and hope that someone out there will be able to tell us more. Anyone who has any information at all should contact us on 0300 123 8018.”
