ALLEGATIONS an elderly woman was found strapped to a bed at a Lickey Hills care home are being taken "extremely seriously" by home bosses, amid a police investigation.

Police are probing an incident at Lickey Hills Care Home, which national newspaper The Daily Mail claims involved an 82-year-old woman found strapped to a bed overnight.

Officers were called to the Warren Lane care home by staff on Friday, May 12.

Care home bosses say they are taking the claim “extremely seriously” and have “appropriate measures” in place to ensure the safety of residents during the investigation.

A spokesman for the home said: “We take allegations of this kind extremely seriously and immediately reported this case to the police.

“We are fully co-operating with their investigation and, whilst this is ongoing, are unable to make any further comment.

“We are, however, taking all appropriate measures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all our residents, which is always our first consideration."

A police spokesman added: “On Friday, May 12, West Mercia Police received a report of an incident at a premises in Lickey overnight between 11 – 12 May.

“Investigations are ongoing at this time.”

The home offers dementia care, diagnostic and screening procedures, care for physical disabilities, and caring for adults over the age of 65.

It was rated ‘Good’ at its last Care Quality Commission inspection published in August 2015.
