THERE is only just over a week left for people to nominate their education heroes for one of our education awards.

We've teamed up with the University of Worcester to offer the Worcester News Worcestershire Education Awards.

The awards celebrate all of the talent, passion and dedication we know exists among childminders, teachers, support staff, training providers and volunteers in education.

They cover all those who have an impact on our children's education including early years, schools, colleges or post-18 education and training providers.

You can also nominate people doing wonderful work in the community including through youth groups, such as the scouts, and sporting clubs, such as junior football and rugby teams or dance schools.

We have received scores of nominations across the 12 categories which are outlined in full below.

They include headteacher of the year, primary or secondary school of the year and unsung hero of the year.

There is even a special Fit for Life category for those who help inspire and encourage children and young people to be active.

Nominations are open until Friday, April 7.

Peter John, editor of the Worcester News, said: "Time is running out to nominate your favourite education heroes so make sure you send them in before it is too late.

"We've seen an incredible response and a quick glance through some of the nominations shows what a wealth of talented people we have working and volunteering with young people within the county.

"Our awards are proving to be a great way for people to say thank you to those inspirational figures who help make a difference in our community and we've seen some really heart-warming stories and richly deserved nominations."

Anyone can nominate and we've seen parents, governors and schools come forward and we've even had nominations from students themselves.
