MORE than 70 members of Worcestershire for Europe, including several from Bromsgrove, joined a national march in London on Saturday to protest against Britain leaving the EU.

The group were joined by Liberal Democrats from across the county at the London Unite for Europe March, which saw 100,000 protesters turn out.

A Bromsgrove resident and spokesman for Worcestershire for Europe, who wishes to remain anonymous, said: "We marched peacefully as one to Parliamentary Square, all ages, all nationalities, all political parties and none, all types of people united behind a single cause because we all believe that leaving the EU will harm rather than help our country."

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Theresa May is set to fire the starting gun on Brexit by triggering Article 50 - the two-year process for quitting the EU.

Readers were asked to vote on their feelings towards Brexit in a poll on the Advertiser website this week - nine months on from June's historic referendum.

It can now be revealed that, of the 185 readers that voted, 85 per cent said they would vote to remain in the EU, if given the chance to vote now, while just 15 per cent said they would leave.

Worcestershire for Europe is set to hold a public meeting with Bromsgrove MP Sajid Javid for residents to raise their concerns regarding Brexit following the county elections in May.
