THIRTY-three new jobs could be bouncing into Dudley if councillors back plans for a trampoline park.

Leap Dudley Ltd want to transform a former warehouse opposite Tesco on Birmingham Road, into a place where people can jump for joy.

In addition to the 64 trampolines, plans for the park include a restaurant serving up healthy grub, a soft play area for toddlers, a sensory room and a community information hub.

There will also be a multi-sports area, where people can play hockey, badminton and tennis, a party room and a dedicated meeting room, which both public and third sector organisations will be encouraged to make use of.

A supporting statement submitted to Dudley Council as part of the planning application said: "Leap Dudley Ltd will be a real community focal point, where adults and young people alike will come to enjoy a vibrant exciting experience, creating new memories, whilst achieving new milestones.

"Visitors will be able to keep fit, have an opportunity to learn about and partake in creating great healthy food, make new friends whilst having fun at an innovative centre that encourages healthy living, breaks down social and generational barriers whilst encouraging social inclusion for everyone."

Councillor Shaukat Ali, who represents the St Thomas's ward, has welcomed the application.

He said: "Trampoline parks are the craze these days, so from that point of view it'll be good for the area - there isn't anything like it here.

"It'll also create some jobs and that is also good. It will now follow the planning process and if successful, then I can see it being well used by local people and those from further afield."
