CHRISTMAS is coming to Worcestershire County Museum this December.

Christmas at the Castle, a special weekend of festive fun, is being held at the museum in Hartlebury on Saturday, December 10, and Sunday, December 11, between 11am and 4.30pm each day.

Among the highlights will be an elf trail to find Santa's grotto, where youngsters can receive a gift from Father Christmas.

Children can also take part in a variety of craft activities including making Christmas tree decorations, designing a mosiac coaster, and writing a letter to Santa.

In the Castle's Scullery the housemaid will be busy with Christmas preparations, so visitors can help make the pomanders and stir the Christmas pudding.

The Castle Coachman will be offering horse and carriage rides around the Carriage Circle, and the blacksmith will be working away in the Forge.

In the Castle's Georgian saloon youngsters will be able to take part in interactive storytelling and Christmas songs, while Looby Lou will be painting faces and showing off his juggling skills.

There will be a number of craft and gift stalls in the Great Hall, plus entertainment will be provided by local choirs.

Festive treats and homemade meals and snacks are also being served in the museum's cafe.

Pippa Ashmore, events officer, said: "Christmas is all about enjoying ourselves and spending time with loved ones.

"The County Museum offers the perfect atmosphere for some traditional festive fun and entertainment.

"Our Christmas at the Castle weekend is a great way to have a full, fun, family day out."

Admission costs £5 for adults, £2.50 for children and concessions, while a family ticket costs £13. There is a charge of £3.50 for Santa's Grotto.
