DOG walkers at a Cradley Heath park are being invited to an arts class which their pooch will be allowed in the fun.

Arty Barkers on Sunday, October 9 is Cradley Heath Creative's latest event at Haden Hill Museum and Park.

Fran Wilde, chairman of Cradley Heath Creative, is looking forward to the event for dogs and their best friends.

She said: "There are so many dog walkers who use Haden Hill Park.

"It was natural to have an arts day for them."

She added: "This is the second of our five arts events with the staff and Friends of Haden Hill which draw attention to possible community use of the stable block there.

"We have brilliant support from so many dog interested people, the Prospectors Canine Training Group are demonstrating heel work to music.

"Suzy Hayward, who runs a tea dance in aid of Age Well on the last Wednesday of every month at Spring Meadow, Old Hill, will be calling Line Dances for dogs (and their owners)."

There will also be a dog race and fun competitions with prizes from The Big Pet Store as well as dog portrait artists along with felting and sculpture using dog hair donated by Doggy Style Groomers.

The Grey Hound Trust and Wild Acre Rescue will also be presenting information on their work and how to look after dogs.

Arty Barkers is the second in a series of events which Cradley Heath Creative are using to promote the public use of stable blocks at Haden Hill Park.

Ms Wilde said: "Our overall aim is to highlight the potential of the stable block at Haden Hill House as a community resource.

"The building was made weather proof with Heritage Lottery Funding back in 2009, but it needs proper investment to make it usable use by the museum and local organisations."

She added: "Haden Hill Museum and Park is Sandwell’s most visited of Sandwell’s public attractions, and the stable block would be a real asset."

Arty Barkers is at Haden Hill Park between 2pm and 4pm on Sunday, October 9.
