BRAVE Kidderminster anti-bullying campaigner and model Iskra Lawrence is left shaken after facing up to the sickening abuse she has received.

The 26-year-old presents a special programme about online bullying for BBC Inside Out West Midlands tonight (Monday, September 26).

But viewers will see the moment that her dad Doug, who usually moderates the most threatening comments to protect her, plays her a particularly frightening video from a troll. The clip shows a menacing figure saying ‘I will kill you’.

Iskra, from the Broadwaters area of the town, has gone on to become one of the most successful models in the UK. But she is also well known for her dedicated campaigning against cyber-bullying.

Earlier this year Iskra, who at size 14 is classed as ‘plus size’ in the modelling industry’, launched a body positive campaign following abuse she received from trolls who labelled her ‘fat’.

But the terrifying threat she saw for the first time on Inside Out left her visibly shaken and scared for her own safety.

Iskra said: “I was shocked. I’m not surprised my dad didn’t show me.

“I get trolled daily. I get anything from slut, whore to fat, fat cow, disgusting. This can lead to quite serious psychological harm.

“It can lead to people being scared in their own homes. This isn’t a laughing matter – this is a serious matter. People need to be made aware of that.”

Latest figures from West Midlands Police cyber-crime unit show online harassment has trebled in a year. The programme also follows Iskra meeting students at University of Birmingham to talk about their experiences with trolling.

Iskra reiterated her commitment to her mission to challenge online trolls and support victims of online bullying.

She added: “If there’s one person that benefits from this. If there’s one child that can look in the mirror tonight and look at themselves differently – that’s all I want.”
