YOUNG performers enjoyed a visit from Worcester MP Robin Walker ahead of their debut production of classic musical Les Misérables.

The youngsters, who are part of Worcester Operatic and Dramatic Youth Section, will open their production for six sell-out shows at the Swan Theatre from Tuesday, August 2.

Mr Walker praised the 66-strong cast of eight to 18-year-olds and said their rehearsal had been "fantastic".

The politician added that Les Misérables was his favourite musical and that he used to sing one of the well-known songs while driving in his car.

He remarked upon the "incredible talent" of the cast and praised the "huge amount of hard work" of all the volunteers.

The show will run from Tuesday, August 2 to Saturday, August 6.
