THERE will be disruption for drivers in Bewdley tomorrow as the flood barriers are deployed to cope with rising river levels.

Worcestershire County Highways are working with the Environment Agency to allow the flood barriers to be put up on Severnside North in the town tomorrow (Wednesday, February 10), but are hoping to keep disruption to the town to a minimum.

The B4195, Stourport Road, towards the junction with B4190, will be closed from 7am tomorrow (Wednesday) to allow the erection of the barriers and then remain closed with no through route, but access for school and local residents from bypass end.

The B4190 (Beales Corner) will be closed from 6.30pm to approximately 11.30pm on Wednesday, while Severn Trent pumps are deployed in aid of barriers and pumping requirements.

The diversion around the bypass will be put in place during this time while the B4190 is closed.

Subject to no issues, the B4190 should be re-opened at 11.30pm to two way traffic.

A spokesman for the Environment Agency added: "We want to keep Bewdley open for business and minimise disruption to the local community, so we will deploy the demountable barriers at Severnside North and are also likely to deploy the temporary barriers at Beales Corner tomorrow morning (Wednesday, February 10).

"We are in contact with Worcestershire County Council regarding the bridge closure arrangements. The bridge will be closed on Wednesday, as this cannot be avoided, but disruption will be minimised."
