A FORMER Worcester man has been found guilty of rape after he dragged a woman into a secluded area in Brixton and attacked her.

Bruno Andre Miguel Pereira was sentenced to 12 years on Friday, January 29.

He was originally convicted at Inner London Crown Court on Thursday, December 16, last year.

Pereira used to live in Henwick Road, St John's, Worcester. The Worcester News reported in November, 2013 how he and an accomplice robbed a man in St Mary's Court, off Sansome Walk.

Police were called at approximately 3.05am on Sunday, August 2 last year, to Tudor Close, Brixton Hill, after a 27-year-old woman contacted emergency services stating that she had been attacked.

The London Ambulance Service was also called to the scene.

The woman told officers that she was approached by a man, who she did not know, just before 2.45am by a bench in Tudor Close. The man then dragged her by the arm into a secluded area where he raped her.

She was taken to a Haven Sexual Assault Referral Centre. She did not require hospital treatment.

Detectives from the Sexual Offences, Exploitation and Child Abuse Command arrested Pereira, identified via DNA, on Tuesday, August 11 and he was charged on Sunday, August 12.

Bruno, aged 21, of Kirkstall Road, Brixton, was sentenced at Inner London Crown Court.

During the previous incident in Worcester, the victim decided to take pictures of the two 19-year-olds, one of whom was Pereira, after they parked in a neighbour's space.

He had his phone taken and was repeatedly kicked and punched until he almost lost consciousness, suffering head injuries.

Pereira was sent to a Young Offenders' Institution after admitting the robbery.
