MORE than a thousand people turned out for Sajid Javid’s job fair, making it the biggest Bromsgrove has seen.

The event offered hundreds of job vacancies from more than 45 employers and allowed local businesses such as Barrie Beard and LG Harris Brushes to showcase their Bromsgrove-based opportunities.

Keith Westwood, company director for LG Harris, said: “It was a very worthwhile event for the good of Bromsgrove people and local businesses alike.”

A spokesperson for the business said the jobs fair was very successful for LG Harris and they have already received a few applications from prospective employees.

The fair welcomed several national companies including Aldi, National Grid, the Royal Air Force and HSBC.

Mr Javid said: “It was fantastic to see residents discovering new opportunities from an even wider range of employers this year.

“From the army to accountancy, from retail to engineering – there was a real buzz to the day.”

Training providers the Shaw Trust and Your Enterprise also attended the new Parkside Hub as well as the National Careers Service who ran a CV clinic for job-seekers needing help with job applications.

Mr Javid added: “The feedback from visitors has been very encouraging. I’m going to be following up to make sure job opportunities turn into realities for my constituents.”
