POLICE remain outside a property where a 46-year-old man was last night arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

A 60-year-old man was taken to hospital with a wound to his neck following the incident in Westfaling Street, Whitecross, at 6.49pm and is in a stable condition.

A police spokesman said that they believe the incident was contained to the property and that the suspect and victim were known to each other.

Forensic police officers were among those who gathered at the house, close to the junction with Stanhope Street, following the incident.

Officers were also seen conducting door to door enquiries close to the home at the centre of the investigation which has been cordoned off.

They remain outside the address today.

Meanwhile, forensic officers were taking pictures inside and outside the property.
