A TAXI failed to stop after forcing a motorcyclist into railings on a dual carriageway in Halesowen.

John Mucklow, aged 31, is due to undergo plastic surgery tomorrow to deep cuts to his knee following the accident in Dudley Road at 6.55am today.

The road worker, of Briery Close, Cradley Heath, who was on his way to work at Worcestershire County Council’s Lydiate Ash depot, also suffered bruising to his arm and shoulder.

Mr Mucklow said he was riding his Kawasaki ER6 in the outside lane when the taxi driver pulled across from the inside lane as they were virtually alongside each other.

“He didn’t see me but we made eye contact at the last minute as I was forced into the railings,” he said.

Speaking from Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Mr Mucklow, whose motorcycle was written off and expects to be off work for up to two months, said he was “angry” the taxi driver failed to stop to help.

Police are interested in tracing the driver of the taxi, which was a white Peugeot 405, displaying a Dudley Council licence plate.

Witnesses or anyone with information should contact the police on 101.
