ROBBERS in balaclavas and armed with a machete made off with cash from a Worcester takeaway after smashing the counters.

The armed robbery took place at The Italian Job takeaway, Rose Avenue, Tolladine on Monday.

At about 10pm two men entered armed with a machete.

Staff at the same restaurant were attacked by eight or nine men on July 15 which was described as ‘vicious’ by police. Staff suffered facial injuries.

Police have yet to confirm whether the incidents are linked.

In this latest incident one of the offenders started causing damage to the counters with the machete, and demanded money from a member of staff.

Both men then left on foot in the direction of Rose Avenue, taking a large amount of cash with them in a black plastic bag.

There were no injuries reported.

The suspects are described as white men, around 5ft 6 and of a slim build, wearing full face balaclavas and dark clothing.
