THE imaginative designs of a group of schoolgirls is to be used by a housing developer to create a children’s bedroom in one of their showhomes.

Joanna Barker, Mouse Robinson, Anna Cooper and Emily Collins together came up with an inspiring jungle theme design which won first prize in a competition run by Bloor Homes.

Now, the design by the Year 6 pupils at St Nicholas C of E Middle School, Pinvin, will be used in a showhome at Bloor's new Pinvin Green development.

The second prize went jointly to Hannah Paterson and Ellie Broad, while Katherine Burgess was awarded the third prize.

Claude Hooper Interiors was also involved in judging the competition and will create the bedroom at the development off Upton Snodsbury Road.

Paula Gwilliam, Bloor senior sales manager, said: “The standard of the children’s designs really was impressive so it was tricky to choose a winner, but the winning group’s inspiring entry stood out in the end.

“Our designers will have great fun using their winning ideas to make a very special bedroom.

“All the children must have worked really hard and we’d like to thank them and everyone else at the school for supporting us with this project.

“I’m sure they will all get a real thrill when they visit the Pinvin Green showhome and see how the work of their schoolmates has been used.”

The development will bring 33 two to five-bedroom homes to the village.

As part of its planning agreement for the site, Bloor will also invest £200,000 in the local community, including £57,987 in education, £17,712 towards improvements at Pinvin crossroads, £14,889 in Worcester transport strategy, £17,000 for community buildings, a £55,740 sports contribution and £35,347 towards leisure facilities.

There will also be a cycle link through to Pershore.
