THIS year's Malvern Mayor's Bonanza enjoyed perfect weather that drew hundreds of people to Priory Park on Sunday and raised over £1,800 for charity.

Music was provided by a wide variety of performers, from the Rock Choir with their stirring anthems, the indie sounds of Heroes of Hanoi, classic rock'n' roll from the Pontiacs, saxophone quartet Random Numbers, and rockabilly from Miss Pearl and the Rough Diamonds, who closed the show in fantastic style, accompanied by the Mayor and his wife, Cllr Julian and Mrs Helen I’Anson, as backing dancers.

The crowd also enjoyed performances from Dance in Motion and the Spotlight Theatre Company, face-painting by Shanti and balloon modelling by Looby Lou.

And audience members also had the chance to try out some circus skills and turn their hands to a variety of craft activities, and take part in competitions, games and much more, which all helped to fill the charity’s pot, along with money raised from rides on Laurence Harper’s original Victorian fairground horses, second-hand books sold by Childline volunteers, and donations from the many local traders who were manning stalls throughout the park.

These donations, combined with the generosity of local people, mean that over £1,800 was raised for Childline, Cllr l'Anson's charity for his term in office

He said: "This is one of the best ever totals for the Bonanza and a hugely welcome effort from everyone who came along in support of the event.

"Malvern Town Council and I would like to thank everyone who came to the Bonanza for their support, and the staff, volunteers, performers and traders who helped to make the event a success. We look forward to welcoming you all to next year’s event."
