CHILDREN'S summer holiday activities due to take place on Pitmaston Park have been moved while the council cleans up mess left behind by travellers.

Worcester City Council has moved its planned multi-sports activities dues to take place tomorrow (Thursday) to Lower Wick Green due to health and safety concerns.

The park was closed off last night after travellers moved off the site leaving behind bags of rubbish, dirty nappies and faeces.

Worcestershire County Council is due to start a clean-up of the site today.

Between ten and 12 caravans had been illegally parked on the field since Friday but left after council chiefs threatened legal action with the final caravan making its way out of the park at 3pm.

The free session is due to take place at 1.30pm to 3.30pm with no need to book.

Sessions are taking place at parks across the city as part of a five week programme of completely free sporting activities.

Families can have a go at sports including cricket, tennis, football, badminton, volleyball, rugby, athletics, frisbee and parachute games.
