STAFF at Malvern Hills District Council have raised just over £1,000 in the last six months for numerous charities.

Each year, staff members at the council house a number of charity events to take part in, and raise money holding raffles, dress-down days, quizzes and cake sales.

Among the recent charity supported by staff include Jeans for Genes Day, which raised £72.40 for Genetic Disorders UK, the Macmillan Coffee Morning, which raised £223.70 for Macmillan Cancer Support, and Children in Need, which raised £131.69.

Other fundraising initiatives in recent months have included the Poppy Appeal (£139.17), the British Heart Foundation (£80.68), Comic Relief (£150.29), Save the Children (£67.58) St Richards Hospice (£30) and Acorns Children’s Hospice (£184).

Jack Hegarty, chief executive at MHDC, said: “We are really happy to take part in charity events and raise money for great causes, the generosity of our staff is wonderful and we hope to continue our good work throughout the rest of the year.”
