CELEBRATIONS will be had in Evesham this weekend as the first birthday of a baby described as a "miracle" takes place.

Elsie Louise Gordon will be marking her birthday on Saturday, March 7, with a party being held at the Health Hub and Play Cafe Evesham High Street.

But the event won't just celebrate her special day, it will also be in support of the TAG UK charity and Cancer Research's Relay for Life event.

One-year-old Elsie, who was born on Tuesday, February 25, last year, was diagnosed with a serious joint condition when she was still in the womb meaning she was given just a one per cent chance of survival and her parents Natalie Brown and Peter Gordon were told to prepare for the worst.

But the little fighter battled on, returned home to Avon Street in Evesham and has since been sitting up of her own accord, something the doctors said she would never do.

Her parents have since been raising money for various charities who supported them.

Mr Gordon said: "We are holding a first birthday party for Elsie. Clare Bayley, the owner has kindly sponsored the event.

"It will be an open event to all young children. We will holding party games, soft play, bouncy castle, messy play, fancy dress optional and party bags and prizes.

"Me and Nat would love to give something back to show are appreciation for all the help and support we have received over the past year."

The event will take place from 2pm until 4pm and there will be a £3 entrance fee for the charities.
