BUS passengers travelling between Leominster and Hereford are the subject of the latest appeal by police investigating the death of a motorcyclist on the A49 at Moreton-on-Lugg.

The passengers were on board a Yeomans Lugg Valley Leominster-Hereford service passing Moreton when the “incident” occurred just after 11.20am yesterday (Monday).

Police inquiries are focussed on establishing circumstances that could have lead to the fatality.

The woman driver of a car believed to be a “dark” Vauxhall Vectra is still being sought having been reported as leaving the scene near Moreton Crossroads and heading for Hereford.

Now, an appeal has gone out to bus passengers who may have had “vital” sightings of vehicles ahead of the fatality.

Inspector Alex Warner of West Mercia Police said: "The investigation is ongoing and we are trying to establish the circumstances of the incident.

"Originally, from information at the scene it appeared that the car may have been involved in a collision with the motorcyclist and then failed to stop. However, further enquires have established that this may not have been the case," said Inp Warner.

"In order to help us progress with our enquiries we would like to speak to the driver of the car and the passengers on the bus – a Yeomans Lugg Valley bus. This bus was travelling between Leominster and Hereford between 11am and 12pm yesterday.

"We would urge these passengers, the driver of the car or anyone who was in the area at the time and may have information to contact police on 101, quoting incident number 254S of Monday 29 September," he said.
