AN UPTON man who relies on his car for work has had his licence taken away after admitting getting behind the wheel while drunk.
Graham Baker, of Waterside, appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court yesterday accused of driving on the A38 at Severn Stoke at about 5am on June 30, with 69mg of alcohol per 100ml of breath – almost twice the legal limit.
Rob Macrory, defending, described the incident as “a disaster” for the 56-year-old, who drives for a living.
He added Baker had been at Upton Folk Festival and had no idea he was still over the drink-drive limit when he got up the next day to go to work.
The court banned him for 18 months and ordered him to pay a £250 fine as well as £85 costs and a £25 victim surcharge.
