Controversy over hills chair-lift plan

"A motion urging m u dc to call a town meeting so that the public might voice it'd opinion on the chair-lift proposal was withdrawn at Tues meeting of the c, " rep m g 50 y a.

"During a debate on the matter, the clerk, Mr J Bulman, explained that the chair-lift was the concern of another public body in Malvern n the H Conservators - and if they wanted a town meeting, it was their concern, not the Council's."

The motion had been tabled by coin r e green, who assured his fellow members he had.not been "got at" by any individual or organisation in putting forward the motion.

"He said tete was widespread interest and opposition to the idea, and pointed out it was the Parks Committee who first recommended that the Rose Bank site should be offered to the Conservators for consideration as a base for some means of transport up the hills.

"There had been quite a few previous schemes that had fallen through."
