Echoes from the past

Mr Frederic Villiers, the famous war correspondent, who has for many years lectured on his remarkable adventures on the warpath, will give his recent experiences entitled On the Path of Peace, profusely illustrated with over a hundred pictures, in Malvern Assembly Rooms, on Saturday afternoon, 17th February, at 3 o'clock. The lecture, which will deal with Mr Villiers' travels in different parts of the world, has been attended by large audiences in every town where it has been delivered, and the Press have been enthusiastic in its praise. It should therefore not fail to attract a crowded gathering in Malvern.

Thousands of revellers are expected in Malvern later this summer to celebrate one of the most famous events in British history. Plans are in hand to light up the hills with a giant bonfire on top of the Worcestershire Beacon as part of the Fire Over England chain. Organisers hope there will be a night-long barbecue on the hillside, Tudor pageants and fairs in schools, costume carnivals and a host of other festivities to mark the 400th anniversary of the Spanish Armada.
