"THE old swimming pool site beyond the former rail bridge at Hereford Road, Ledbury, is being considered by a county council advisory panel as a possible gipsy site," noted the Reporter 25 years ago.
The paper reported that members of the panel had inspected five possible sites around the area.
"Following the visit, Whitfield Coppice at Trumpet is the only other remaining under active consideration. Two possible sites at Little Marcle Road, Ledbury, one on each side of the proposed new bypass, did not find favour.
"Difficulties of access also led to the rejection of the site at Ashperton Road, Trumpet."
The paper also reported the "the former Defence Ministry site on Bromyard Road, which housed a canning factory before more recently hosting the old Thusdeay night stalls market, has been sold for an undisclosed sum approaching £300,000".
"New owners Gloucestershire-based Stag Securities plan to refurbish and divide the accommodation into units which will be sold off or let."
