Upton Marina plans given green light

A MAJOR development at Upton Marina has been given the go-ahead after a successful appeal against planning refusal.

A second marina basin, a 43 chalet holiday village, a marina side development of 32 dwellings and a series of major support buildings have been planned by Tingdene Marinas.

Ripple Parish Council, who objected to the development, said: "The Inspector found that, in his judgment, more had been allowed in the original outline planning permission than MHDC believed had been allowed.

advertisement"The failure to mark key drawings as being only indicative, clearly hurt our case, and additional conditions on the outline approval should have been made then, and not delayed until the detailed planning discussions."

"We hope that Tingdene Marinas will recognize their responsibilities to the local community, and donate, if required, the 30,000 cubic meters of spoil needed by the Environment Agency to build the proposed flood bund around the back of Upton, and also to strictly limit their commercial activities on the site, as originally promised, so as not to adversely impact the retail and hospitality businesses in Upton."
