Upton
New event helped by groups
A HUGE variety of community groups helped make Upton's newest event a big success.
More than 170 visitors attended the Upton Community Showcase, held over two days in Memorial Hall and featuring groups such as Upton on Bloom, the Citizens Advice Bureau and Mercia Inshore Search and Rescue (MISAR), as well as representatives from the police and fire services.
One of the organisations that attended was the Duckworth Worcestershire Trust, which works to protect and enhance the natural environment by highlighting the number of everyday items that can be re-used.
Project manager Roisin Hanks was on hand to illustrate this point using an eye-catching zebra made entirely out of plastic bags.
The Showcase was organised by Upton Community Pride, who were also responsible for compiling Upton's Parish Plan.
Organiser Peggy Booth is delighted with how the event turned out.
"We had a lot of visitors for an event like this, and I think all those who came took away some useful information," she said. "Those groups that were here had some good networking opportunities, and hopefully there will be some valuable outcomes for Upton."
