Upton
Popular venue back in business
LOVERS of good food and drink in Upton are celebrating the return of one of the town's favourite businesses.
Ten months after the 2007 summer floods washed through The Swan Hotel, the popular waterfront venue fully reopens today (Friday, April 18) under new ownership.
Sue and Ralph Thompson have relocated from Bewdley to take over the business, which they will run with assistance form their daughter Sam Davies and her husband Scott, making the new venture a real family affair.
The Swan has already been serving drinks from its fully refurbished bar, but as of today it will be serving up an array of traditional meals from its brand new kitchens courtesy of chef Michael Hudson.
Mrs Davies said her parents had been looking for their own pub for some time, and that the opportunity to take over in Upton was too good to miss.
"We came down every day for a week to look around the place, and we just had to say yes," she said. "We are very excited to be hear, and delighted that the restaurant is now open."
