A STUDENT from Malvern received an award for Best Film from legendary film director Ken Russell at the International Film School Wales (IFSW) Finest Film Festival organised by the University of Wales, Newport.
Matthew Allsop, aged 21, felt honoured to receive the award from Ken Russell who is best-known for his Oscar-winning film "Women in Love" (1969) and the science-fiction film "Altered States" (1980).
Matthew, who has spent the last three years studying for a Film and Video Degree, was director of photography on the film "Lovetomy" which tells of a man who finds a clinic that promises to cure his broken heart. But there is a catch: He will never be able to fall in love again. "I've really enjoyed studying at Newport and was extremely pleased that our film was voted the best!"
