TWO students from Malvern College will meet West Worcestershire MP Sir Michael Spicer on Wednesday (January 23).

Henry Wootton and Ellie Micklethwait, along with Ryck Williamson of Pershore High School, were winners of the Eyres Monsell Speaking Competition, held in October.

The young people will watch Prime Minister's Question Time before having a brief tour of the Houses of Parliament followed by lunch with Sir Michael.

Ryck Williamson won the Sir Michael Spicer Cup for the Best Individual Speaker for his opposing view that "This house demands an English Parliament". Henry Wootton and Ellie Micklethwait won The Eyres-Monsell Debating Shield for their proposing view that "This house demands an English Parliament".

Sir Michael today said: "I much look forward to seeing Henry, Ellie and Ryck again. The debating competition was fiercely competitive. A very high standard was shown by all the schools competing. It was an extremely difficult choice that I and the other judges Cllr Val Wood, mayor of Pershore, and Jack Hegarty, managing director of Wychavon District Council had to make. "
