A BLIND dog at a Worcestershire animal charity needs a special person to rehome him in time for Christmas.

Freddie is described as a sweet natured five-year-old brindle and white Staffie cross in the care of RSPCA Worcester & Mid-Worcestershire Branch.

Geraldine Haynes, branch trustee, said: "Sadly, Freddie is blind and has recently come into care as his original owners were no longer able to look after him.

"We arranged for him to see an eye specialist who confirmed he has no retinal activity, so unfortunately there is no treatment that will restore his sight - not even partially.

"However, he is a happy boy and adapts well to his situation. Freddie is getting to know his way around his kennel and where the gates are, when he goes for a walk - he definitely knows where his food is!

"Freddie has loved running around in the snow in the play area. Obviously he would be better in a home environment, rather than in kennels. We are keeping everything crossed that he will have a new home before Christmas."

Since coming into the branch's care Freddie has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and has been given a clean bill of health.

Mrs Haynes said: "He is a friendly, affectionate boy who loves everyone and other dogs.

"He so deserves a caring home with someone who will love him. The vet thinks he would benefit from living with another dog, who he could learn from and 'show him the ropes'."

Please ring Geraldine on 01886 822083 if you think you could be the special person to offer Freddie a permanent, loving home.
