THOUSANDS will enjoy a weekend of music and dance at this year’s annual folk festival.

Upton Folk Festival takes place from Friday, April 28, to Monday, May 1.

About 1,500 tickets are expected to be sold and over 600 camping tickets have been purchased.

Richard Hannah, the chairman of the festival, said the festival has a friendly atmosphere.

“These are people [the performers] who go down the pub when they are not on stage,” he said.

“We have two concert venues. One is the Parish Church and the other is upstairs in The Star.

“We are hoping the weather will be good and the forecast says it will be quite reasonable.

“It’s well worth coming down to. It’s a very colourful and very noisy event.”

The grand procession on Sunday will go from the church to the waterfront and involve 45 morris dancing groups.

Revellers can buy tickets at the festival office, outside the King’s Head.
