A HIT-and-run victim's family are demanding the return of their relative's clothes from a councillor who said she would make them into 'memory bears'.

Paula Stevens says she sent her brother's clothing to Tonya O'Donnell, who is a Malvern Wells parish councillor, 11 months ago.

Ms Stevens' brother, Brian Tozer, died after he was knocked off his bike in Andover, Hampshire, on Sunday, March 6, 2016.

The family sent his clothing to Ms O'Donnell, who crafts memory animals from the clothing of loved ones as part of her business TOTZ Treasures.

But they say they are still waiting and the delay is "upsetting".

The Worcester News has contacted Ms O'Donnell, who says the dispute with Mr Tozer's family is now a police matter and she does not want to comment.

But Mr Tozer's brother, Paul Tozer, aged 48, said: "We are still waiting for our bears. It has got out of hand. It's upsetting.

"The bear is something to keep on the cabinet to remind me of my brother.

"We gave all of his other clothes to charity, this is the very last reminder I have of him."

He said Ms O'Donnell originally told the family that the bears were sent to the wrong address, but then later said they had been lost.

Ms O'Donnell committed to an August delivery and confirmed that she had received the clothing on Thursday, April 21, according to the family.

The family have asked for postal receipt evidence to show that Ms O'Donnell had sent the bears to them.

"It turns out people in America and other people in this country have also not received anything," Mr Tozer said.

Another customer, Elisabeth Strausborger, aged 29, from California, in America, told the Worcester News she said she posted her children's baby clothes to Ms O'Donnell in June and also sent a $40 deposit.

But she says she has not received her animals either.

"I mailed out my items and tracked them making sure they arrived. It took 12 business days," Ms Strausborger said.

"I was told the bear and lion would take six-to-seven weeks when I sent the clothes.

"After a couple months I began contact again and that's when she then said it would now take six months because she is very busy."

Ms Strausborger claims Ms O'Donnell told her that she mailed the items around Christmas time, but they never arrived.

She says Ms O'Donnell then told her that the items were returned by customs due to the packaging.

Ms O'Donnell has told the Worcester News that the products have now been sent to Ms Strausborger and will be with her shortly.

The TOTZ Treasures Facebook page has now been taken down, although screenshots show Ms Stevens' posts asking for her bears.

West Mercia Police confirmed it has received a report of a malicious communication and says enquiries are ongoing.
