A BRAVE shop worker chased a thief after he filled his bag with various meat cuts and ran from the store.

Lucy Jasinski, aged 23, chased the man after becoming fed up with thieves stealing meat from the Tesco Express in Madresfield Road, Malvern.

She said: “I’m not one for fear, but I stopped chasing him because I thought what will he do if I catch him?”

“He’s a regular. He came in in the morning and ran out with the meat. He basically shovelled the whole shelf of meat into his bag.

“The security gate alarm was going off and I was the only one on the shop floor. I chased him up the road towards Barnards Green. I’m infuriated that he has the cheek to steal. There’s no excuse. Whenever you catch them they say they have got to feed their kids.”

Ms Jasinski, of Worcester, chased the thief at 7.50am, on Thursday, November 3.

The man got away with five lamb leg steaks, 10 sirloin steaks, five beef steaks, eight rump steaks and one pork steak.

Another thief shoved meat down his trousers and fled the store on Sunday, October 30.

Ms Jasinski, who worked at the shop for one year but has since left, said: “They come in with a bag and fill it up with meat.

“Stealing the quantity of meat they have taken is unacceptable. We are not accepting any more. I think we are a laughing stock in that community.”

Juliet Carr, a team leader at the store, said: “You need eyes in the back our head it happens so often.”

The thief who struck on November 3 is described as a 5ft 6in tall white male with blond hair. He was wearing a black jacket with a white lining.
