MALVERN Hills District Council has reiterated its determination to crack down on fly tipping as the latest instance comes to light.
A Gazette reader sent us this picture of garden waste dumped in a lane off New Street, Upton, close to the historic cholera burial ground.
Just three weeks ago, the council revealed that it had dealt with more than 500 fly tipping offences over the last two years, and spent £22,000 in clearance in the last 12 months.
Phil Merrick, head of economy and communities for Malvern Hills District Council, said: “We take all incidents of fly tipping seriously and will not hesitate to take action against those responsible, where evidence can be found to support a prosecution.
“This particular incident was reported to us on Tuesday and was cleared the same day. Residents can help us reduce fly tipping by only using reputable traders, with a waste carrier licence, to dispose of their waste.
“Anyone who has witnessed or come across fly tipping should report it online by visiting malvernhills.gov.uk/fly-tipping-and-littering.”
