BEAVERS and Cubs who took part in this year's Help for Heroes Malvern Hills Challenge were this week awarded with medals and t-shirts to mark their participation in the event.

53 young members of the 1st Malvern Scouts and Beavers took part in last month's challenge, raising £606 for the cause.

At the Scout Centre in Redland Road, Malvern Link, Help for Heroes regional coordinator Dean Williams congratulated the Cubs and Beavers on their achievement.

Mr Williams was handed a cheque for £606 from Scout leader Nick Howden before the Cubs and Beavers welcomed charity mascot Hero the Bear to present them with their medals and t-shirts.

Mr Howden said: "The challenge was something that all the boys and girls could focus on and they have made a tremendous effort to raise so much for Help for Heroes – I’m really proud of them."
