MALVERN author Susan Hale will be launching her new novel for young readers at the Malvern Book Cooperative next weekend.
Mrs Hale will be at the bookshop in St Ann's Road between 2pm and 4pm on Saturday, October 29, to sign copies of Emma Oliver and the Song of Creation and talk to readers.
The fantasy novel tells the story of 11-year old Emma, who must sing the song of creation to prevent the Great Mother Tree dying in the Shining Land. But Emma doesn’t know that she comes from generations of tree singers, passed from mother to daughter, and she doesn’t believe she can sing.
She said: "As a music therapist, I believe in the healing power of singing and have helped thousands of people around the world find and free their natural voices."
During the book signing, she will be reading from the novel and teaching some simple songs about trees. Though the book, published by Our Street Books, is aimed at children aged nine-12, it will appeal to older readers as well, she says.
